Prostate Cancer treatment is evolving. Fewer patients are requiring surgery as we better understand how to manage patients with lower Gleason scores and Active Surveillance is becoming an increasingly important consideration. Recent reports at ASCO 2014 demonstrated that chemotherapy when combined with hormonal therapy extends survival. The impact on the practice of urology and the integration of the medical oncologist into a patient's care is more important now than ever. It is not an understatement to say that the treatment of prostate cancer should be multidisciplinary and that urologists, medical oncologist, radiation oncologists should be participating in their management and prostate cancer patients should be requesting this approach to understand all of their options.
